Dad had to remove all the old tile and also replace the rotten wood behind the wall. Then he had to put up the new cement board.

He is such a perfectionist. I love him for that. He would measure and think and then cut the tile and if it wasn't right he would start over and get it right.

Christy was home for Spring Break and she was the official "mud girl." She wanted to use the saw, but first you had to do well at the mud job. She did do a great job, "Mud Girl."

Mixing mud.

Oh, it makes my heart flutter to see this man at work. He's the best there is!

Here you can see how the tile is being put up on the diagonal. Of course, I was the one who said I wanted the tile just like the example we had seen in the showroom. Of course, Dad is the one who makes it happen, eventhough it was extremely difficult. He does it for me, I am luckly. Christy was a big help all weekend. She cleaned my kitchen, my car, her stuff from high school out of my closet, and she also mowed the lawn!

Nathan came over and helped. He started out 'mudding", but he moved quickly to laying the tile and even sawing. Thanks for you help, Nathan.

Here's how the shower wall looks. See how he got all those pieces to fit perfectly. Then he put in the small decorative squares. The outside is framed with stone blocks that are made in Mexico.
Now Dad is starting to grout the tile. This tile job has set a hight standard for the rest of the house. Next is the flooring and cabinets to be replaced. Maybe we'll start that in June. When I say "start", I mean, I will pick out some outlandish design or project and Dad will make it happen for me...because he loves me.

The tile looks really great - I like the way it turned out. Nice to see the craftsmanship. Good job mud girl and saw boy.

That looks like a lot of work! I can't wait to see it in person!
