Fourth of July 08

JJ after retreiving Jackson's exuberant rocket.

JJ's favorite patriot. Soon to be a patriotic big brother.

His hot-rod makes him smile.

Sun shade's not installed yet.

How could Mom pass up a 4th of july garage sale foosball game?

Smiling big 'cause he's winning.

After the kids leave, JJ and family to the horse races, and Christy double dating with Ryan and his parents, poor little mom and dad are left on their own. Poor Mom And Dad thought the kids would never leave so they could spring into action. Off to the store to get some supplies. Above are the 1" thick pork chop supplies. Pan fried, then finished in the oven.

Mom whipped up her delicious potato salad.

And something new and proving to be delicious as well: broccoli salad.

home-churned dark chocolate cherry sorbet accompanied a fruit laden, cream cheese covered, huge cookie. Is there a hint of guilt on her face? Food tastes better eaten guiltily.

Dessert-filled lap

What appears to be something entirely different is actually dark chocolate cherry sorbet.

After dinner for two, Dad and Mom enjoyed a few History Channel Revolutionary War episodes.

George Washington was a MAN. Do you know how he took care of his army's dessertion problem? He did what he had to do in his quest for victory.

PBS's program "A Capital Fourth". held much more meaning after being there in person.

The fireworks display behind Washingon's Monument was awesome.

Hope everybody had as much fun on the Fourth as mom and dad did.
Thank GOODness it's going to be fast Sunday.
