Labor Day Picnic at Mineral Wells State Park

Well, you've got to make the best of it in Texas on Labor Day. We decided to try a cookout. It was about 100 degrees and we were trying to act like it was fun. All the elements were there, we even made rubard pie in the dutchoven.
While the pie was cooking we went for a hike. Remember the climbing cliffs at Mineral Wells?

This is that narrow passageway where you can go in and get cool for a minute.

Here our our "buddies" for the day. Jackson had fun throwing rocks in the lake.

Yeah for Labor Day! Next year we're going to find a swimming pool or stay inside where its cool.

Those boys are so cute! I remember when "hiking" meant walking around a lake. Those were the good old days!

I have fond memories of Mineral Wells - lots of fun camping there. Did you see any snakes?
