Our Trip to Billings, Montana

My family lived in Billings, Montana from 1957-61, I think. We lived in this house at 2023 Concord Drive. It was a new home when we moved in, but it was very small. Six kids and my Mom and Dad. It was not this blue color, it was white. There weren't any trees in front either.

This is what you see from the front, the back bedrooms. The big front window was in the back and looked out on the backyard. There were three small bedrooms, one and one-half bathrooms, a very small kitchen and dinning area and a livingroom. I was about seven when we moved there from Salt Lake City. My Dad had a job selling World Book Encyclopedia to schools, libraries and people all over the state of Montana.

This is the entrance to the house. There was a breezeway that separated the house from the garage, but that has been enclosed. My Dad had his office in the garage. He had a desk and his own phone line and must have had someway to heat it during the winter.

Here's Heidi standing in front of the garage.

When we lived there not much was built up around that subdivision. My eye caught this sign of Sunset Bowl on Central Drive. I remembered that there was a road between the bowiling alley and Sunset Cementary. We found the road and then found Miles Avenue School where I went to school through 6th Grade.

I was excited to find the school. I have good memories of playing on the playground. The school was new when I went there. You can see how the doors to the playground open up from the classroom. We ran, we played four-square. School was fun for me.
We had a great time in Billings. We also went to the Billings Temple which was beautiful. We drove the Rimrock Highway, we went to some caves and saw Indian paintings, we stayed at a Hotel with a indoor waterpark with our grandkids and we ate lots of good food. Really good food!
