Our Maiden Voyage

When Dad when in the backyard to get the canoe he came across this copperhead snake.

It's so freaky to watch the head move after it has been severed from the body. We've never seen a snake at our house here and it was disturbing to say the least.
Loading the canoe with his ingenious rolling wheel device. I never have to help.

Look at how easy it is to get on and off our van. We look real cool going down the road with our canoe on top. We can;t wait to pull up to Christy's apartment at UT with our canoe on top.

I took this picture of Dad. His life jacket fits better since he lost 20 pounds. It surprised me to feel like I had done something physically challenging, when all you do is sit in a boat. But paddling makes you work up a sweat and gives you a good workout.

The scenery is nice. We go t Lake Worth. There is a sign posted that alligators have been seen in the lake and you should not try to feed, catch or bother them. This makes me feel creepy, but we've only seen birds, bugs and floating sticks. (We guessed it was a stick, we didn't investigate.)

We usually get to the lake by 8AM. It is quiet and peaceful. We really like our new canoe. We bought exra life jackets so come and enjoy a trip on the lake.

Looks like a lot of fun. I've heard canoeing is a good workout - we'd love to try it one of these days.
