We Travelled West

We began our journey into the high mountains at Cody, Wyo., with Heidi, Michelle, Caleb, Wyatt, Grandpa, and Zane.

This is just the first scenic view on the Beartooth Scenic Highway which is named after some mountains that look like a big tooth.

This is the entrance into Yellowstone National Park on the border of Montana and Wyoming. We didn't go in because we didn't have time. Our next stop was Cooke City, Montana, pop. 90.
It's hard to describe how spectatular the view on this highway is. You climb to 11,000 feet to the top and then you desend on these switchback roads with shear drops on either side. What an experience! My Dad took me on this road when we lived in Montana, I remembered it well.

Lots of beautiful scenery.

Here everyone is on the wooden bridge which crosses the crazy river below. The run off from the snow around was making that river rushing and crazy.

Same river, different spot.

There was snow all over the place. We stopped here to climb the snow. Zane, Wyat and Caleb all took off their shoes and ran up the snowhill. You see me racing Zane.

I made it! It was so fun. Here is where Heidi decides to do one of her wanderings and she takes off up the mountain with all the kids and Michelle following. That was the last we saw of them for about an hour. Meanwhile, I made my way back down the snow.

I gave Caleb my camera and he took some great pictures from a top the mountain.

WOW! Each grandson returned with a handful of wildflowers they'd picked for Grandma. We were sure glad when everyone came back off the mountain -Heidi.

I guess the picture of everyone at the top didn't turn out. Bummer!
