We drove from Lake Powell to Zion's Park and entered the park through the amazing tunnel that was made in 1930 to fit cars of that size. So it is a one way traffic now and you have to wait your turn. The tunnel goes right through the mountain, just like this picture shows.
This is a cool picture of contrast. There is so much beauty to behold here.
Mom on a small trek. There's tons of serious hikers, and lots of trails. Heidi says she's been on lots of the trails. Christy and I did a few shorter hikes.
Christy standing by the Weeping Wall. 2000 year old water actually drips down through the rock. It's a very cool spot in the canyon.
I love the red rocks of southern Utah. I like this picture of contrast with all the green foliage. They told us Zion's canyon was named by a Mormon. Zion meaning a place of peace and refuge. You truly feel the spirit of the canyon when you are there.
I don't remember the name of this rock formation. There are just so many beautiful views. You ride in these long buses with large windows up to the top and back. Anytime you want to get off you just do and then catch the next bus going up or down.
These are The Three Patriarchs formations. I think Jacob, Issac, Abraham maybe.
Dad and the van with The Throne in the background. I would highly recommend a trip to Zion's Canyon. It is crowded, but they have things worked out so you can view and hike as much as you want. It was hot, but pleasant in the evening. It has climbed to the top of my favorites. (We did go there before we went to Hawaii.)
There is camping inside the park, but that fills up. We camped just outside and the lot was filled with hundreds of cars, tents, vans,RV. It is a popular place. Aunt Elaine told us, if she could have her wishes she would leave this life driving through Zion's canyon with classical music playing in the background. It is a place that calms you, and sets you mind to think of Diety and the magnificant splendor He created for us to enjoy. Please go there!
